Annotated Summary #1

Jiang F., & Wong A. (n.d). “Study on the Performance of Different Types of PV Modules in Singapore”. https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=1627177

Based on the research, the article stated Singapore would be suitable for implementing solar panels as it is one of the countries that have extra “solar hours” compared to the other countries. Performance of the Solar Photovoltaics system was conducted, and it shows that “poor weather days in Singapore is very low”. Therefore, it simply shows that this island is able to generate tons of renewable energy and supply for its daily needs and it is evident for the implementation of solar energy.

The article provides detailed information on Solar Photovoltaics and the feasibility of having solar panels on this island. All the data and analysis conducted, this helps us in our research project. With the government's support in creating more clean energy, the reverse solar panel would be able to work alongside the existing solar panels. Thus, the implementation of reverse solar panels would be able to assist in combating climate change in Singapore.

  1. Good afternoon Joshua,

I have also skimmed through the above-mentioned research article and found it to be rather wordy. Thank you for this helpful summary!

As I do not know much about solar panels, I found your summary rather intriguing. You mentioned that Singapore provides extra “solar hours” and is ideal for the implementation of photovoltaic cells. I thought this to be very interesting.

Thank you for this annotated summary, and all the best for your report!

    With thanks,
    Clement Ten.

  2. Dear Joshua,

Thank you for taking your time in summarizing the article from a very lengthy report.

I'm impressed with how you and your team can implement an improvement to the existing solar panels to further enhance the use of solar panels here in Singapore.

Just one pointer I notice in your summary is on line three of the last paragraph, instead of government you might one to replace it with "government's".

    Overall, kudos to your effort.

    Cheers,
    Raymond

  3. Dear Joshua

Thank you for the insights on the higher amount of "solar hours" Singapore has in comparison with other countries. Given the fact the Singapore experiences less poor weather, it further enhance the feasibility of integrating photovoltaic and thermoradiative technologies.

Good job on your annotated summary.

    Regards
    Rue

  4. Dear Joshua,

Thank you for summarizing and reviewing through on how Singapore is well suited for the installation of solar panels. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Singapore is one of the countries with higher "solar hours" with low poor weather days.

Thank you for the good work, this would be great to incorporate into our technical report!

    Best Regards,
    Shimin

  5. Dear Joshua,

    Thank you for this summary.
I was impressed in how you were able to summarize such a lengthy article into just 155 words.
I learnt that Singapore is a suitable country to implement solar panels due to our ‘extra solar hours’.

You may want to replace “All the data and analysis conducted, this helps us in our research project.” with “With all the data and analysis conducted, this helps us in our research project…” and perhaps you could elaborate more on how it helped with your project.

    Cheers!

    1. also Joshua, I think the way the referencing was done is incorrect. This seems to be a journal article, and should not be referenced like a news article.
